ITE - In the Ear

They are designed and sculptured to fit either half your external ear (cavum concha) or the entire external ear (cavum and cymba concha). ITE hearing aids are often suitable for most types of hearing losses. Extraction cords can be fitted to ITE hearing aids to help insert and remove them from the ear

BTE - Behind the Ear

BTE are the most common and and frequently selected models. They are slightly smaller and are ideal for wearers with limited dexterity and moderate to severe hearing loss. A tube connects the hearing aid to a custom earpiece that fits in your ear canal. The microphone is placed behind the ear and the receiver is connected via a thin, clear tube that is placed inside the ear that routes the sounds around you.

IIC - Invisible in Canal

These ‘invisible’ hearing aids sit entirely inside your ear canal that people won’t be able to see them. A thin plastic pin remains accessible, which you use to pull the hearing aids out again. The Invisible-In-the-Canal (IIC) style automatically adjusts to different sound environments – which means you don’t have to touch them or change their settings during the day. It has a custom made shell and all vital electronics are placed individually in the shell, providing an optimum and small fit. Invisible or IIC hearing aids are ideal for mild to moderately severe hearing loss.

RIC - Receiver in Canal

Receiver-in-canal (RIC) hearing aids sit behind the ear and deliver sound directly into the ear. A small, soft tip sits inside the ear canal without sealing it. The receiver directly goes into your ear canal. A case behind the ear holds the aid’s amplifier and microphone, while a small bud that contains the receiver is used inside the ear canal. It is attached to the main body of the RIC hearing aid by an electronic wire. RIC hearing aids are available in different styles.
